Municipal information system in Bremerhaven pedestrian zone

Since mid-September, a green roof has adorned the advertising pillars in Erlangen. Mayor Florian Janik, Economic Officer Konrad Beugel as well as Stefan Helbig (Managing Director Ströer Deutsche Städte Medien GmbH) and Freya Amann (Head of Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Bavaria, Ströer Deutsche Städte Medien GmbH) from Ströer witnessed at the corner of Nürnberger-/Sedanstraße when the last of a total of 44 advertising pillars got a plant cover put on.

Bremerhaven's pedestrian zone is now home to five digital city information systems. The municipal information system was installed by Ströer. "For the first time, the city as well as local and regional advertisers have ten new screens at their disposal in the pedestrian zone," says Lord Mayor Melf Grantz. Grantz: "Up to five more digital city information systems are to be installed in Bremerhaven over the next two years. This will include the Schaufenster Fischereihafen and the Havenwelten." The screens, which are around two square metres in size and in portrait format, are placed at five locations in the pedestrian zone (between Lloydstraße and Theodor-Heuss-Platz). The new city information systems are equipped with contemporary LCD technology. In a three-minute programme loop, the screens broadcast advertising, editorial content, and regional topics such as city news or weather.

"The Citys Screens offer a new source of information for our citizens. Important information and interesting offers from the local retail trade come directly into the field of vision of the target group. We are excited to see how the new information offer is received," expresses Mayor Melf Grantz.

"We are pleased that, in cooperation with the city, we can now launch a digital, municipal information service for Bremerhaven and offer citizens an additional information channel by playing out topics from the region. In addition, we are creating a relevant and affordable environment for local advertisers," says Alexander Stotz, CEO Ströer Media Deutschland GmbH.

Regional and local retailers can present themselves on the city information screens during advertising hours. Advertising motifs on the screens make it possible to draw the attention of passers-by directly to the offers. The screens can also be used, for example, to draw attention to upcoming cultural or sporting events, news relevant to tourism or Sundays when sales are open. The information system can also be used for traffic guidance information and basic warnings, for example in the event of severe weather, bomb defusions and lost persons.
