In autumn and winter 2022, Hamburg residents saved 16 percent natural gas and 8 percent electricity compared to the previous year. The alliance of the city, chambers, companies, scientific and cultural institutions and associations joined forces in autumn 2022 to call for energy savings. In the coming weeks, the partners of "Hamburg dreht das" will present their savings successes on a large scale in the city.
Since the start of the campaign, the 36 partners have supported the goal of saving energy in all areas of life. In addition to concrete measures, the focus was on motivating the city's own employees and all Hamburg residents to join in.
Dr. Peter Tschentscher, First Mayor: "The development of energy consumption in Hamburg shows: many individual measures can achieve a great overall effect. I would like to thank everyone who has joined the initiative and led the way with good ideas in companies or at home. Even though we will soon have reached spring, the economical use of energy remains important: for a secure energy supply and climate protection."
In October and November 2022, around 6,000 digital media from Ströer featured the campaign motifs "I save energy. For me. And for Hamburg" and specific energy-saving tips for the home.

(Eimsbüttel Gymnastics Association), Gasnetz Hamburg. (ETV), Gasnetz Hamburg, Hamburg Airport, Hamburger Energiewerke, Hamburg Wasser, Harburg Marketing, Harms + Wende, HASPA, Hamburg Chamber of Crafts, Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, Klaar Design, Langbartels + Jürgens Druckereigesellschaft, Lotto 24, OTTO, Phorms Campus Hamburg, Radio Hamburg, SAGA, Sporting Hamburg, Sprinkenhof GmbH, Ströer, Stromnetz Hamburg, Studierendenwerk Hamburg, Süderelbe AG, Thalia Theater, University of Hamburg ZEBAU, ZEIT-Stiftung and the agency Zum goldenen Hirschen are already on board.
There are many ways to get involved. For example, the supporters point out the possibilities for saving energy in employee magazines, newsletters, via social media, on POS posters, in advertisements, on digital media and via calls on their own homepage.
The energy savings (16 percent natural gas and 8 percent electricity) refer to private individuals and businesses. Savings by industry are not included in these figures.
