Senator Dr. Carsten Brosda becomes patron of Ströer's motif contest
Together with the Department of Culture and Media as a cooperation partner, Ströer has initiated the "MoinKultur!" motif contest. The aim of the contest is to give art and culture a greater presence in public urban space and to make culture widely visible on Ströer's digital city information systems in Hamburg again and again throughout the year. Poster motifs from cultural institutions of all categories that have been used to advertise on analog or digital surfaces are awarded a quarterly prize by an independent jury consisting of representatives from various cultural institutions. The winners receive media service vouchers and can use them to display their motifs on digital city information systems throughout the city. In addition to four quarterly winners, one annual winner will be awarded among the male and female winners. The creativity and diversity of Hamburg's cultural scene and the motifs designed will thus be showcased in public spaces throughout the city of Hamburg with the help of Ströer. Senator for Culture and Media Dr. Carsten Brosda acts as patron. Cultural event organizers can apply with their motifs from now until July 31, 2023 for the first round. You can find all the information about MoinKultur! at www.moinkultur.de.
Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media: "Hamburg's diverse cultural offerings shape the face of the city, evident everywhere, thanks to billboards all over the city. The posters are often small works of art themselves and show how diverse the cultural offerings are in Hamburg, the city of culture. During the pandemic, the empty advertising pillars also clearly revealed what is missing in the city when cultural institutions are closed. With the MoinKultur! competition, Ströer helps make our city's culture even more visible and bring it into the public sphere. With a strong presence, culture encounters Hamburg residents as well as visitors to our city again and again quite casually, inviting them to enjoy culture live."
For Alexander Stotz, CEO Ströer Media Deutschland GmbH, this project is a special endeavor: "Art and culture transport socially relevant topics, promote exchange and initiate conversations. For more than 100 years, the cultural column has stood for a colorful variety of cultural motifs and media dissemination in urban spaces. With the new, digital possibilities of today's communications infrastructure, we are in a position to break new ground for a sustainable, diverse cultural scene. With MoinKultur! we want to test and explore this to the maximum together with those responsible for art and culture, the city and all creative people."
Catharina Enderlein, Head of Ströer Media Creation, initiator of the sustainability movement Sinnflut - for the future of the healthy city and member of the jury, adds: "With digital city information systems, the creative and design possibilities have grown manifold. How can we do more good together? How do socially relevant topics become more visible and understandable? How can we create new places of communication that bring art and culture into public spaces? Questions that are essential for me as an art historian and from the perspective of all sustainable movements in these times. I see digital, urban forms of communication as an enormous lever to open city dialog windows in real time, to activate and transport important issues. The best way to do this is collaboratively, with the positive spirit of a diverse network of arts and culture professionals - MoinKultur!"
Tom Till, jury member, Deputy Chairman of Hamburger Theater e. V. / Managing Director of Thalia Theater: "Art and culture are important to the people of Hamburg and a good reason to visit our city. Ströer's digital advertising pillars and media screens are omnipresent in the cityscape and open up completely new possibilities for public communication. With the MoinKultur! competition, we want to try to bring both worlds into resonance in a fun way."
Cultural organizers from all sectors can take part in the competition and submit their motifs online at www.moinkultur.de. Once per quarter, an independent jury of experts will select winners based on the criteria of appeal, design, originality, creativity and comprehensibility. The quarterly winners each receive a voucher for media services worth EUR 10,000 for a high-reach campaign on Ströer's digital media screens in Hamburg. The campaign is also intended to create a link between the familiar, static cultural billposting and the new digital communication options. An annual winner will also be selected from the quarterly winners. This winner will receive an additional voucher for media services worth 25,000 euros. The annual winner may donate the media performance to a non-profit association or a voluntary project in Hamburg. In this case, Ströer doubles the value of the media performance passed on to the non-profit association or voluntary project to a total of 50,000 euros.
