Christmas is the time of year when we look forward to coming home and experiencing the " holiday of love" together with our families and friends. In festively decorated rooms, at a richly laid table and usually with numerous gifts.
But what does home actually mean for people without shelter? Almost 250 people in Düsseldorf live and sleep on the streets for the most part, meals are sparse, and there is often no contact to family and friends anymore. To draw attention to the situation of the homeless, the message "Christmas at home is the best. If you have one. - Give the gift of a Merry Christmas now." can be seen. With extensive coverage, Ströer is a partner of the campaign and supports the initiative of the #TUES association, snoopstar, GuteNachtBus and the state capital Düsseldorf with Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller as patron. The multimedia charity campaign aims to inspire and motivate the city's citizens to turn their focus to the lives of homeless fellow citizens.
"Ströer is aware of its sociopolitical responsibility and is supporting the initiative as part of a high-reach outdoor advertising campaign," says Alexander Stotz, CEO Ströer Media Deutschland GmbH. "We are thus creating awareness for the initiative and its important cause. I am convinced that, also with the help of the campaign, we will be able to raise awareness of the situation of homeless people among many Düsseldorf residents and motivate them to support the 'Christmas at Home' campaign."
"I am delighted about this very nice campaign, which I am happy to support with my patronage. It is impressive how many partners and sponsors are creatively involved and work together to bring a little joy to people without shelter at Christmas," says Dr. Stephan Keller, Mayor of the state capital Düsseldorf.
The campaign will be accompanied in public spaces by a virtual Advent calendar in the form of a postcard with 24 video messages in support of the homeless and a digital and uncomplicated sale of Christmas gift boxes. The boxes are meant to be a small contribution to give people on the street a feeling of Christmas and to show them that they are not forgotten.
