UNICEF and Ströer launch campaign for World Humanitarian Day

Since 2009, World Humanitarian Day has been celebrated every year on August 19th to honor international humanitarian efforts and principles. In particular, it commemorates the aid workers who have lost their lives while carrying out their work around the world.

Never before have so many children grown up in conflict zones. At the same time, serious violations of children's rights and attacks on humanitarian aid workers reached an all-time high last year. On World Humanitarian Day, UNICEF Germany and Ströer are calling for the protection of children in need and humanitarian teams. Starting on August 19th, the current campaign will be visible on Ströer's digital media to draw as many people's attention as possible to the situation of children in crisis areas such as the Gaza Strip, Sudan, and Ukraine.

“In light of ongoing crises and a steadily growing number of children in need of assistance, it is essential that support does not diminish at this time. Our responsibility is greater than ever—this applies to the international community and the federal government, as well as to all citizens. Children require our solidarity. We would like to draw attention to this with our campaign,” says Christian Schneider, Executive Director of UNICEF Germany.

“In times of increasing hardship, it is our duty as a society to show support, especially for children in war and conflict zones. We are not looking away, but rather highlighting how important humanitarian aid is for children in need. To this end, we are happy to make our freely accessible media available in the public domain,” said Alexander Stotz, CEO of STRÖER Media Deutschland GmbH.
